Myopia Management
What is Myopia?
Myopia, commonly known as short-sightedness, describes when a patient cannot see objects clearly from a distance; for example the TV or a whiteboard at school. It occurs when the eyeball grows in length. The 'longer' the eye, the more short-sighted a patient is. It can be worse for younger children as their eyes are growing at a faster rate. As a result, this causes blurry vision which can be treated with glasses or contact lenses.
What causes Myopia?
There is a link between activities we do in our day-to-day lives, such as increased use of screens, near vision activities, but genetics also plays a huge part.
Other factors include:
Less time outdoors
Educational requirements
Urbanisation

What is the treatment?
Myopia Management means slowing down the progression of myopia. As myopia worsens faster in younger children, it is important to start treatment as soon as possible.
How we can help
Myopia patients can use special myopia management contact lenses and glasses.
Our glasses
The glasses will be worn during the day and they are ideal for younger children. We supply Essilor® Stellest® lenses and Zeiss MyoCare.
